Venesection for Haemochromatosis

Venesection for the treatment of Haemochromatosis is available at Cooper MediCare. Haemochromatosis is an inherited genetic disorder, causing the body to absorb too much iron from the diet. The excess iron absorbed by the body causes damage to any organ in which it collects. Treatment for Haemochromatosis involves regular removal of blood (Venesection) from the patient, which helps to remove excess iron from the body.

Dr. Cooper has a special interest in Haemochromatosis, and is qualified in assessing patients’ iron levels, and in prescribing the appropriate frequency of Venesection procedures required for patients with Haemochromatosis.
