DR. MICHELLE COOPER
MBChB, BSc Med Sci, DCH, DOWH, DCP, DME, MICGP
Dr. Cooper graduated in 2003, having studied Medicine at St. Andrew’s University, Scotland. After completing her internship, she specialised in Paediatrics and worked in hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland.
Dr. Cooper undertook her four-year specialist training in General Practice at U.C.C. in 2005. During this time, she gained vast experience in Emergency Care, General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Cooper has obtained Diplomas in Child Health, Medicine For The Elderly, Women’s Health and Psychiatry. Dr. Cooper also has Specialist Training in Surgical Skills and Contraception including Intrauterine Device insertion (IUD). She is an active member of the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Irish Medical Council.
Dr. Cooper worked at Torc Medical Practice in Killarney from 2011 to 2013. She was delighted, thereafter, to return to her hometown, opening her own Medical Practice at 17 Ashe Steet, Tralee in December 2013. Dr. Cooper currently specialises in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cardiac Risk Prevention, Breast and Prostate Cancer Screening, Diabetes, Chronic Disease Management, Weight Management, Haemochromatosis, Dermatology and Minor Surgery.
NURSE MICHELLE CORKERY
Michelle graduated with a BSc Honors Degree in General Nursing from the Institute of Technology Tralee and University Hospital Kerry in 2005.
After qualifying, Michelle worked in Australia where she developed valuable knowledge and experience in several areas of nursing, including Acute Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Medicine, Gynaecology, High Dependency Care and Neonatal Care.
Since graduation, Michelle has undertaken Specialist Training in Fertility Medicine which involved extensive training in Transvaginal and Abdominal Ultrasound, Early Pregnancy Ultrasound and Family Planning. She has also received a Post Graduate Award in Counselling and is qualified in Nurse Training, with experience working as a Nurse Tutor, delivering training modules in specialties such as Infection Control, Managing Challenging Behaviour and Health and Well-Being.
Michelle has specialised for many years in the areas of Women’s Health and Infertility Care providing key information, support and advice to couples undergoing Infertility Care and Assisted Conception (In-Vitro Fertilisation). Michelle has a keen interest in Infertility and continues to keep up to date with any new developments in this area.
Michelle is competent in delivering high quality practice based nursing care, focusing specifically on the delivery of Phlebotomy, Obstetric, Gynaecology and Immunisation Services including Cardiovascular and Respiratory Health Services. Over the years, Michelle has furthered her evidence-based medical training in Diabetic patient care. She now takes the lead in organizing and delivering first-class Diabetic Clinics to all our diabetic patients here at Cooper MediCare.
Michelle is a conscientious, approachable and trustworthy nurse who offers confidential and holistic Nursing Care. She is dedicated, resourceful and professional in her approach to work at all times. Michelle is known for her friendliness, efficiency and kindness to patients. She prides herself in establishing a unique rapport with patients and their families. We are delighted to have Nurse Michelle working with us!
NURSE GERI HEALY
Geri began her Nursing journey in 2013, graduating with a BSc Honors Degree in General Nursing from the Institute of Technology Tralee and University Hospital Kerry in 2017.
Geri has experience working in Care of the Elderly with qualifications in Elderly Care including certification in the Recognition of Elder Abuse, Falls Prevention, Dementia Care, Management and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers and Wounds, and End of Life Care.
Geri has experience in Acute Hospital Medicine, including Maternity Care, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Cardiology and General Surgery.
Geri’s special interests include Health Promotion, Preventative Medicine and Paediatrics.
Geri is diligent, thorough, caring and compassionate. She is dedicated to delivering high quality evidenced based Nursing Care. She has excellent communication skills and clinical skills which are further enhanced by her ability to bridge generational gaps.
Geri has continued her professional development with certification in numerous competencies including Tracheostomy Care, Spinal Trauma, Phlebotomy, Pain Management, National Anaphylaxis Education and Respiratory Medicine. She is responsible for running Chronic Disease Management Clinics, Asthma and COPD Clinics including Spirometry Clinics and Flu Vaccination Clinics here at Cooper MediCare where she prides herself in delivering evidence-based preventative medical care to all our patients.
Geri is an enthusiastic, diligent, dedicated nurse who is committed to contributing to the professional, confidential and trustworthy ethos of Cooper MediCare. We are thrilled to have Nurse Geri on board!
NURSE ELEANOR HAYES
Having graduated from University College Cork in 2012 with a BSc Honors Degree in Midwifery, Eleanor spent four years working in CUH where she gained vast experience in all aspects of Maternity Care. Her time there was shared between High Risk Antenatal Care and Postnatal Care. This involved providing individualised, high quality midwifery care to women following all types of delivery. During this time, Eleanor achieved qualifications in Phlebotomy, Cannulation, Cardiotocography (CTG) interpretation as well as qualifications and experience in caring for parents enduring bereavement and loss.
Eleanor followed her passion in Reproductive Medicine and began working as a fertility midwife in 2016. Eleanor gained vast experience in all areas to of fertility such as IVF/IUI/SA and later joined the Egg Donation Team whilst working in this field. Eleanor’s role in this post was theatre-based, overseeing medication management and assisting during egg collection/embryo transfers and hysteroscopy. Eleanor continued to work in Women’s Health after returning home to Kerry in 2018, caring for women undertaking fertility investigations and guiding couples through their fertility journey – providing support where needed, such as medication demonstrations and counselling referrals.
Eleanor has also always had a keen interest in Infant Nutrition. We are proud to have her on board in Cooper MediCare where she provides first class Maternity Care to our patients including a supportive Lactation Counselling Service. Eleanor’s passion in General Practice is to ensure top quality Maternity Care as well as to assist challenges mothers face with breastfeeding.
Eleanor goes over and above to provide evidence-based care to all our patients. She is hard working, extremely caring and always professional. We feel blessed to have such an experienced and wonderful gem here at Cooper MediCare!
Declan joined Cooper MediCare in 2018 and is a great addition to the practice. He is responsible for the daily operations of the practice. Together with Amanda and Catherine, Declan ensures that the practice is run efficiently and maintains the highest standards for our patients. Declan and the reception team will endeavour to help you in a prompt and professional manner. He will deal with your needs and queries with sensitivity and in total confidentiality.
With an interest in caring for people, Amanda trained and qualified with a Distinction in Beauty Therapy from the Sanctuary Beauty Academy, Tralee in 2008. Amanda has always been diligent and hard-working and she is a valued lead member of our receptionist team here at Cooper MediCare, where she has worked since 2016. Amanda is kind, professional, empathetic and organised. She is a wonderful asset to our Surgery!
Catherine has many years of experience working as a Medical Secretary in Tralee. With a Diploma in Business Studies, Office Administration and Montessori Teaching; she is highly qualified, extremely efficient, caring, reliable and thorough. Catherine enjoys working with people and helping others. We are delighted to have her as part of our Administrative Team here at Cooper MediCare and we value her dearly!
Brenda qualified as a Medical Secretary from Pitman Training, Tralee prior to joining our team in 2019. With a strong background in administration and a desire to help people we are delighted to have such a professional, empathetic and efficient member of staff on board!
