Influenza Vaccine

The influenza vaccine is now available.

The National Immunisation Advisory Committee recommends that all of the following patients receives the influenza vaccine:

All persons aged 65 years and older

All persons aged 6 months and older with the following:
– Chronic heart disease
– Chronic liver disease
– Chronic neurological disease
– Chronic renal failure
– Chronic respiratory disease
– Diabetes mellitus
– Down Syndrome
– All cancer patients
– Persons suffering from blood disorders
– Immunocompromised patients
– Persons with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 40
– Pregnant women
– Healthcare workers
– Residents of nursing homes
– Carers
– Persons in contact with pigs, poultry or water fowl

All children aged 6 months and older with the following:
– Any condition that can compromise respiratory function especially those attending special schools/day centres
– Children with moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disorders such as cerebral palsy and intellectual disability
– Children on long-term aspirin
